The US Open is known for its expensive tickets, with fans often paying high prices for premium weekend sessions. However, the men’s semifinal between top seed Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov has seen an unusual drop in ticket prices on the resale market.

Despite both players putting together strong runs to reach the final four, their matchup has not generated the same excitement as some of the tournament’s bigger names. As a result, ticket prices for the semifinal have fallen sharply, creating an unexpected situation at the final Grand Slam of the year.

US Open Semifinal Ticket Prices Hit Historic Lows Ahead of Zverev and Khachanov Match

The secondary ticket market for the Zverev-Khachanov semifinal has seen a major price drop, down 89% in just three days. As the gates prepared to open at Flushing Meadows, fans could find tickets for Arthur Ashe Stadium for $35 and several listings dropping even below $30.

Tickets were later spotted for as low as $22 and $19 on secondary platforms, making a men’s semifinal ticket cheaper than a single Honey Deuce, the US Open’s most popular cocktail. And it quickly became a topic of discussion on social media, with fans mocking the matchup’s lack of ticket demand.

While Wimbledon draws large crowds regardless of the players on court, the US Open seems to have strong demand for high-profile matchups.

On Reddit and X, tennis followers continued to comment on the low demand, with one user saying the cheap ticket would only be “worth it to see a women’s doubles final.” The women’s doubles final got over a few hours ago, as Taylor Townsend and Kateřina Siniaková won the title by defeating Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery in the final.

“Wow. That’s pretty crazy,” noted a fan on X. Another user pointed to the absence of Carlos Alcaraz from the later stages of the tournament, writing, “lmao can’t imagine what the prices would be like if carlos made it to semis.”

The seven-time Grand Slam winner came back to the court at Flushing Meadows as a defending champion after an over four-month-long injury. He had a promising run but was defeated in the quarterfinal by Ben Shelton. Besides Alcaraz’s exit, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner also had to skip the tournament due to a knee injury.
