The Colorado Avalanche (9-5-1) look to extend their three-game winning streak against Valeri Nichushkin and the Columbus Blue Jackets (5-7-0). Puck drop is scheduled for 5:08 p.m. MT.

Key Stories to Watch -

Coming off their first road win in three weeks on Monday night, the Avalanche are searching for their first perfect back-to-back of the season. So far, the Avalanche are 1-0-1 and 0-2-0 in their other two sets of games on consecutive nights.

Colorado will face Valeri Nichushkin for the first time since he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets during the offseason. Nichushkin was a key piece of the Avalanche’s lineup for most of his seven years with the club. Of course, there were also off-ice issues along the way that soured the relationship at times. Nichushkin has not had a great season, recording one goal and six points in 12 games while putting up just 17 shots. Nichushkin has not faced the Avs since March 2019 and has two assists in 11 contests against them during his time in Dallas.

After playing Mackenzie Blackwood in three straight games, expect the Avs to go with Scott Wedgewood against the Blue Jackets. Wedgewood is 0-2-1 in his last three starts and has a 3.48 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage in four games.

The Blue Jackets are last in the Eastern Conference, albeit they’ve only played a league-low 12 games. They are struggling to score goals and have just 28 so far this season. Only two players (Kent Johnson and Zach Werenski) have double-digit points.
