- Charlie Cox reveals that the *Daredevil: Born Again* team "discussed the possibility" of keeping Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) alive.

- The actor shares the alternate scenario they considered and why it ultimately didn't happen.

- "Foggy's dead," Cox reiterates.

Is Foggy alive on *Daredevil: Born Again*? Secretly? No, he is very much dead. But, according to star Charlie Cox, there was a time when the show's creators considered a scenario that would've kept Elden Henson's character in the land of the living.

In **'s latest Debunked, a video series where casts react to fan theories, the man behind Matt Murdock responds to one such speculation about how Foggy could really be alive and locked away in one of Fisk's cages. A big plot point of *Daredevil: Born Again* that continues into season 2 (premiering on Disney+ March 24) involves Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) forming his own secret police, an anti-vigilante task force that locks away his political opponents and dissidents in cages.

"So I'll tell you what's impressive about that," Cox tells D'Onofrio in the Debunked interview. "I remember there was a moment where they discussed the possibility of that being the case."

The scenario, Cox continues, would've been "at the end of season 1 you saw Foggy in a cage." Unfortunately for anyone still holding out hope, "Sadly, that was not the case," he says, "because we didn't believe that it was realistic. And the thing about our show is we try to keep it as realistic as possible."

Cox and D'Onofrio reiterated multiple times throughout EW's Debunked that "Foggy's dead." Foggy discovered Fisk's shady dealings with the Red Hook Port, a New York City location untouched by federal and municipal jurisdiction. So Fisk's wife, Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer), released Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). As seen in the opening to the season 1 premiere, Bullseye fatally shoots Foggy in the chest outside of Team Daredevil's go-to bar.

Henson will indeed reprise his role of Foggy in season 2, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum confirmed to EW. Though, the capacity is unclear.

"The death of Foggy was something that we really agonized over," Winderbaum said. "It's not totally dissimilar to the death of Gambit in *X-Men '97*. Both characters represent something essential to the core idea so that their loss actually has a huge impact on the universe that the story's living in. So it wasn't something we took lightly."

As Cox says, "I understand the desperate need, the clutching at straws to convince us that he's still alive." Responding to a different Foggy theory, he adds, "I hear the anguish in this person's text."

"I would just like to say, and this is not a lie, that I am happy I wasn't the one that killed Foggy," D'Onofrio chimes in. "That's all I can say."
