President Donald Trump's eldest grandchild is following in his footsteps in one major way.
Kai Trump — the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump — is graduating from The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Fla., on Friday, May 15, just three days after celebrating her 19th birthday.
In the fall, Kai is headed to the University of Miami, where she will compete on the collegiate golf team.
“Kai is extremely focused on golf,” a source in Jupiter, Fla., tells PEOPLE. "She has demonstrated the discipline to continue with it and go as far as she can."
The president's granddaughter has "grown up with the sport," the source notes, as Donald himself is an avid golfer who owns almost 20 golf courses around the world. Since moving from New York to Florida when she was 13, Kai has flourished in the sport and had the opportunity to learn from high-profile golfers who are regulars on the Trump courses.
“She is a good player,” the source says. “I think she will improve a great deal under the right coaching.”

Last month, the University of Miami women's golf team finished 10th at the 2026 ACC Championships, and Kai hopes to prove herself as a valuable member of the squad in the fall. “Kai was impressed with the team in Miami and is excited about going to school there,” the source says.
As an added benefit, she will be living close to the Trump National Doral Miami and an easy drive away from home.

Kai appeared on Logan Paul's Impaulsive podcast earlier this year, where she said she'd "never" run for office. For now, golf seems to be her strongest link to her grandfather's interests, and sources close to the teen agree she is serious about the sport.
“She has already played in tournaments and had national interest in her talents,” another Jupiter source tells PEOPLE.
She has an additional personal connection to the sport through her mom's relationship with pro golfer Tiger Woods. Vanessa and Tiger went public with their romance in March 2025, and PEOPLE confirmed at the time that the couple had been quietly dating for several months.

Tiger's 17-year-old son, Charlie Woods, is also a talented amateur golfer who attends The Benjamin School. However, he and Kai will be rivals starting next year, as Charlie has verbally committed to play golf for Florida State University starting in the fall of 2027.
Kai made headlines earlier this year for a vlog in which she took her Secret Service details to Erewhon, a luxury grocery store in Los Angeles. To date, the video has racked up more than 730,000 views. However, the sources close to Kai tell PEOPLE that, while she enjoys creating content, "she likes playing golf more.”
That said, Kai did note on the Impaulsive podcast that she's not above joining her family members in monetizing the Trump family name.
“I would like to create my brand one day,” she said. “I don’t know what kind of brand but I want to create my own brand one day.”
