The end is nigh for several beloved TV shows.

From freshman comedies to long-running talk shows and news programs, the axe of cancellation is falling across every corner of the industry. *Access Hollywood**,* for example, will end after nearly three decades airing on NBC, while high-profile spinoffs of *Star Trek,* *The Boys**,* and *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* will wrap up their runs.

Below, we’ve rounded up every broadcast and streaming series that’s been canceled so far in 2026.

The Abandons (Netflix)

Netflix has opted not to pursue a second season of the Western drama *The Abandons, *EW can confirm. Set in the 1850s, the series focused on two rival matriarchs played by Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson.

On Jan. 31, creator Kurt Sutter — who exited the series weeks before wrapping filming — addressed the cancellation on Instagram. “Dear Netflix, Next time fear compels you to choose the algorithm over a creator’s vision, remember how that choice unraveled a potentially beautiful project,” he wrote, as reported by *Deadline*. Access Hollywood and Access Daily (NBC)

NBCUniversal Syndication Studios

After 30 seasons, *Access Hollywood *has been canceled, as NBCUniversal is ending all the first-run syndicated programs it produces.

The long-running daily entertainment news show, hosted by Mario Lopez, Scott Evans, Zuri Hall, and Kit Hoover, will continue airing new episodes throughout the summer.

NBCUniversal also canceled *Access Daily*, which is hosted by Lopez and Hoover.

Bandi (Netflix)

Only a few weeks after French Netflix series *Bandi* debuted in April, Netflix confirmed that the series would not be moving forward with a second season.

Netflix said in a statement to French website RCI that it was “a difficult decision that was not taken lightly.”

The Boroughs (Netflix)

*The Boroughs*, a buzzy supernatural series with an incredible cast, was canceled by Netflix in June 2026, less than a month after its May premiere.

Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, Clarke Peters, Bill Pullman, and Geena Davis starred as residents at a New Mexico retirement community who get swept up in a supernatural conspiracy.

Brilliant Minds (NBC)

*Brilliant Minds*, an NBC medical drama loosely inspired by the work of the late neurologist Oliver Sacks, was canceled in May 2026 during its second season. The series starred Zachary Quinto as a doctor with face blindness.

“I got the call today and I didn’t want to hear, but I knew that it would come,” wrote actor Teddy Sears, who played Dr. Josh Nichols on the series, on his Substack. “To say that I feel sad to be moving on from these stories, this character, and this cast and crew just doesn’t paint the entire picture. I’m sad, sure. But I’m also deeply grateful that I got hired to play this part, so proud of the stories we told, and the other actors I got to play alongside.”**

Building the Band (Netflix)

Netflix’s music competition series *Building the Band* has been canceled after just one season, *Deadline* reported. The series featured One Direction’s Liam Payne as a judge and was filmed before his death in October 2024. Nicole Scherzinger served as both a mentor and judge, while Destiny’s Child alum Kelly Rowland joined Payne on the judging panel. The show was hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys.

The Copenhagen Test (Peacock)

On April 16, *The Copenhagen Test *star and executive producer Simu Liu confirmed on X that the Peacock “spy-fi” series had been canceled.

“Thanks to everyone who watched *The Copenhagen Test!* Sadly, Alexander and Michelle’s journey ends here,” he wrote. “Endlessly proud of our cast & crew for pouring their heart and souls into this show. Looking forward to carrying my producing experience into the next opportunity!”

*The Copenhagen Test* is set in a world where one’s brain can be hacked in the same way as a computer. Liu starred alongside Melissa Barrera as a low-level intelligence agent trying to discover who hacked *his* brain.**

Crutch (Paramount+)

After just one season, the multi-cam comedy *Crutch,* starring Tracy Morgan in the title role, got the axe from Paramount+, per *Variety**. *The series originally debuted on the platform in November 2025.

Reportedly, the cancellation didn’t come as much of a surprise. *Crutch, *which costarred Jermaine Fowler, Adrian Martinez, and Adrianna Mitchell, failed to find a significant audience. Additionally, Morgan has committed to other projects, including the NBC comedy The *Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.*

Deli Boys (Hulu)

*Deli Boys* creator Abdullah Saeed took to Instagram in August to reflect on the news that his Hulu crime comedy would not be moving forward with a third season. The series starred Asif Ali, Saagar Shaikh, Alfie Fuller, Poorna Jagannathan, and Brian George. Fred Armisen joined the cast as a series regular in season 2.

“Thank you to every brown and Muslim and Pakistani and immigrant person who saw themselves in my show. I created this world and these characters for YOU,” Saeed wrote.

“We will always have obstacles and infuriating curveballs, but they will only make us stronger,” he continued, concluding on a hopeful note: “I promise I have a million more stories to tell that will show us as the complex, hilarious, emotional, brilliant and deeply human folk that we are.”

According to *Deadline*, CBS is also axing *DMV, *a comedy about employees at the East Hollywood Department of Motor Vehicles. It will reportedly air its final episode on May 11.

Good Cop/Bad Cop (The CW)

After just one season, *Good Cop/Bad Cop *has been canceled by The CW. The police dramedy starred Leighton Meester and Luke Cook as sibling detectives teaming up to solve crimes.

Cook confirmed the news in a TikTok posted on Feb. 13. “Sad to let you know this but we will not be doing a season 2 of *Good Cop/Bad Cop*,” he said. “I loved making that show … I’m sorry that it didn’t work out and we won’t be doing more of it, but it’s a tough business. Hollywood has the ability to make your dreams come true and also break your heart.”

Gen V (Amazon Prime Video)

On April 24, * *reported that* The Boys* spinoff *Gen V* was canceled after two seasons.

“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the *Gen V* characters’ stories in *The Boys* season 5 and other [Vought Cinematic Universe] projects on the horizon,” executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg said in a joint statement. “You’ll see them again.”

The spinoff debuted in 2023 and centered on students at a school for budding superheroes. Kripke previously told EW that he had a concept in mind for a third season that he still hopes to find a way to incorporate into future iterations of *The Boys* franchise.**

Going Dutch (Fox)

Multiple outlets have reported that *Going Dutch*, a Fox comedy in which Denis Leary stars as a crude colonel who’s reassigned to a military base in the Netherlands, was canceled after two seasons.

According to *Deadline*, it was the “lowest-rated entertainment program” on the network.**

The Hunting Party (NBC)

NBC’s *The Hunting Party* is getting the axe after just two seasons.

* *can confirm that the crime drama procedural starring Melissa Roxburgh has not been renewed for a third season. However, the show is currently being shopped to other networks.

Created by J.J. Bailey, *The Hunting Party* stars Roxburgh as Rebecca “Bex” Henderson, a former FBI profiler who returns to her trade after an unexpected explosion results in the release of the country’s most dangerous serial killers from a secret facility in Wyoming.

It’s Not Like That (Prime Video)

Prime Video drama *It’s Not Like That* was canceled after just one season. Star Scott Foley took to social media to share his disappointment with followers.

“After six or so weeks in Prime Video’s Top 10, I think getting as high as like three or four, really great reviews — I think we have like 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes — our little show called *It’s Not Like That *has been canceled at Amazon Prime,” Scott said in an Instagram video.

“I think I’m just ... I’m disappointed, obviously, but I’m so grateful for the chance,” Foley continued. “I get to make — I got to make a show I’m so proud of with people I grew to like a lot, and now we don’t get to make it anymore, and you don’t get to watch it.”

Karamo (NBC)

NBCUniversal has also pulled the plug on *Karamo, *a daytime talk show hosted by *Queer Eye *alum Karamo Brown, after four seasons. Production has already wrapped, and the final episodes will roll out in the coming months.

Kevin (Amazon Prime Video)

The Amazon Prime Video animated series *Kevin* will not return for a second season, according to co-creator Aubrey Plaza, who confirmed the news on Instagram.

“Amazon Prime is not picking up Kevin for another season. Very disappointing since we were just getting going,” the *Parks and Recreation* star wrote.

She went on to reference the series that catapulted her into stardom. “I remember on the early days of *Parks & Rec* when we all thought we would be cancelled because our ratings weren’t great. Our numbers. But we had some special humans over at NBC that believed in the show and let us grow and let audiences fall in love with our characters. I was hoping for this for *Kevin* but sadly we are living in a different time in our industry. I hope the machines won’t ruin everything.”

Jason Schwartzman led the show’s voice cast as the titular feline, who’s forced to build a new life in a Queens pet rescue with a gaggle of misfit animals.

Law & Order: Organized Crime (NBC)

NBC canceled *Law & Order: Organized Crime* in April after five seasons.

Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler led the *SVU* spinoff, which debuted in 2021 and follows the hot-headed detective as he joins the NYPD’s Organized Crime Task Force.

Meloni acknowledged the cancellation with a video post on Instagram. “I wanted to take this moment to say thank you to the fans who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back,” he said.

Love Overboard (Hulu)

Amid the complicated Alix Earle/Alex Cooper drama, Cooper’s Hulu reality dating series *Love Overboard* was canceled after one season. Earle, who recently debuted her own Netflix reality series, *Earle Meets World,* took advantage of the news to take a dig at her former business partner.

“I’m happier just to like focus on the premiere and having the show out there and, you know, hers are getting canceled, so it is what it is,” Earle quipped to *Entertainment Tonight *on Sept. 2.

Miss Governor (Netflix)

*Miss Governor*, formerly known as *She the People*, was canceled by Netflix after one season. Co-created by Tyler Perry and Niya Palmer, the sitcom centered on Mississippi’s first Black lieutenant governor, played by Terri J. Vaughn.

Vaughn discussed the cancellation in an Instagram video. “I have to admit, I was quite heartbroken when I first got the info, mainly because… of course, because I really worked my ass off to make that show come to fruition,” she said. “My heart and the intention behind the show was just, and I still feel it was just so beautiful and purposeful [and] impactful…to be able to tell those stories through that character.”**

Not Suitable for Work (Hulu)

After just one season, the Mindy Kaling-created Hulu comedy *Not Suitable for Work* has been deemed not suitable for a second season. Kaling confirmed the cancellation on Instagram, sharing a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos. “I love this show, I loved making this show, I love these people, and I love all of you for all your sweet comments, messages, edits and for watching @notsuitableforwork,” she wrote.

Per the official logline, the show followed “work-obsessed 20-somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill.” *Not Suitable for Work* was Kaling’s first solo creator credit since *The Mindy Project* ended in 2017.

On Brand With Jimmy Fallon (NBC)

Hosted by Jimmy Fallon and *Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* star and former Netflix marketing chief Bozoma Saint John, *On Brand With Jimmy Fallon *was canned after just one season, according to *Deadline*. The reality series followed Fallon as he launched a marketing agency and recruited creatives to staff it.

Palm Royale (Apple TV)

EW can confirm that Apple TV has canceled *Palm Royale, *which will end with its second season. The Emmy-nominated period dramedy featured Kristen Wiig, Leslie Bibb, Ricky Martin, and Carol Burnett in a story about Palm Beach socialites in the 1960s.

PBS News Weekend (PBS)

In January, *PBS News Weekend* abruptly ended following federal funding cuts to public media backed by President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans.

“PBS canceled the show due to the loss of federal funding for public media,” anchor John Yang said during the final broadcast. “We’re grateful that you’ve chosen us over the years as the place to get news on Saturdays and Sundays.”**

Ponies (Peacock)

*Ponies*, a spy thriller that debuted in January, was canceled in June by Peacock.

Emilia Clarke (*Game of Thrones*) and Hailey Lu Richardson (*The White Lotus*) led the series, playing secretaries who become CIA operatives while working at the U.S. embassy in Moscow.

David Iserson, who created the show with Susanna Fogel, confirmed the cancellation on Instagram. “What we made surpassed all of my hopes and dreams for a television show,” he wrote, adding that “ratings, algorithms, all of it,” is “out of my control.”

He added, “I still believe that trying to make the kind of thing that is hard to make in this business — for us, a period show with two female leads and an unusual tone — is worth it.”

Rehab Addict (HGTV)

*Rehab Addict* was axed in February after a video emerged of host Nicole Curtis using a racial slur.

“HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of *Rehab Addict*,” a rep for the network told EW at the time. “Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees — it does not align with the values of HGTV.”

They went on to confirm that *Rehab Addict* was being pulled from “all HGTV platforms.”

Curtis apologized in a statement to TMZ. “I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone.”

The Runarounds (Amazon Prime Video)

In early April, *Deadline* reported that Amazon Prime Video’s *The Runarounds *had been canceled after one season. The series, from *Outer Banks* co-creator Jonas Pate, was inspired by the real band of the same name.

“While the TV series may have come to a close, as a band we’re here to stay,” the band wrote on Instagram after the news broke. “This is merely the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one.”

Selling the City (Netflix)

*Selling the City* was an offshoot of Netflix’s popular *Selling *franchise, which began with *Selling Sunset*, a reality series following Los Angeles real estate agents as they navigate the competitive market for luxury homes.

*Selling the City,* by contrast, moved the series to the East Coast and followed agents based in New York City. However, the series was reportedly axed after just one season. PEOPLE reported in April that the stars were nevertheless “grateful” for the experience and “proud” of the show.

Sherri (Fox)

On Feb. 2, Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury confirmed that *Sherri, *Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show,* *had been canceled after four seasons.

“This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production — which has found strong creative momentum this season — or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd,” Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said in a statement. “We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.”

Roughly a week later, Frank Cicha, head of programming for Fox TV Stations, told *Variety* that the “economics” of daytime talk shows have shifted. “The levels of audiences that these shows were garnering just couldn’t justify the cost,” he explained.

Still, Shepherd has vowed not to give up on the show. “We’re gonna be airing episodes all through the fall. And we’re going to continue to fight to keep this show alive in some way, shape or form,” she told viewers on the Feb. 9 episode. “If anybody knows me, they know I’m a fighter. I don’t know exactly what it’s going to look like, but I promise, I am going to continue to spread joy.”

Spartacus: House of Ashur (Starz)

Gladiator drama *Spartacus: House of Ashur *will not be moving forward with a second season on Starz. Series creator Steven DeKnight appeared to acknowledge the cancellation (and, cryptically, something more) on X on May 22: “All I can say at the moment is one door closes, another, better door opens…”

However, Lionsgate Television is reportedly shopping the show to other platforms, so *House of Ashur* could yet find a new home elsewhere. The series was a spinoff of the original *Spartacus*, with star Nick E. Tarabay reprising his role as franchise regular Ashur.

Spider-Noir (Prime Video)

After voicing the black-and-white Spider-Man variant in the hit animated film *Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, *Nicolas Cage returned to the character’s world to play Ben Reilly, a.k.a. the Spider, in a live-action series for Prime Video.

Despite garnering 11 Emmy nominations — the most of any Prime Video series this year — and winning five, the Depression-era superhero series was canceled after its first season. The supporting cast included Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy (Paramount+)

EW can confirm that *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy* will end with its upcoming second season. The series folded in characters from *Discovery* and *Voyager *as it followed a new class of Starfleet cadets, the first in over a century.

“We’re incredibly proud of the ambition, passion, and creativity that went into bringing *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy* to life,” reads a joint statement from CBS Studios and Paramount+.

In a separate statement, executive producers and co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau said, “We are in post-production now on what will be the second and final season. We’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished together on this show, and the world will get to see the work of these extraordinary artists when season two airs. We will finish strong.”**

The Steve Wilkos Show (NBC)

Also canceled is *Jerry Springer** *spinoff *The Steve Wilkos Show*, another casualty of NBCUniversal’s move to end original production for first-run syndication. Since its premiere in September 2007, the talk show has aired 19 seasons and over 2,000 episodes.

As with *Karamo*, production is finished and the remaining episodes will air over the summer.

Stumble (NBC)

In May, EW confirmed that NBC canceled the cheerleading mockumentary *Stumble *after just one season.

Co-creator Liz Astrof shared a touching video on Instagram following the news. “This is what it looks like to work on a set where there is so much support, kindness, lifting each other up (literally and figuratively) and pure love among a cast and crew, writers, and directors,” she wrote. “It’s a found family in a show about a found family.”**

Talamasca: The Secret Order (AMC)

AMC has canceled *Talamasca: The Secret Order*, the latest entry in its Immortal Universe franchise, after one season, * *can confirm.

“While we are not proceeding with another season of *Talamasca: The Secret Order*, we are proud of the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved,” the network said in a statement to EW. “The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise.”

Terminator Zero (Netflix)

In February, *Terminator Zero* creator Mattson Tomlin confirmed on social media that the animated series was canceled by Netflix.

“It was cancelled,” Tomlin replied when a fan inquired about the status of the show. “The critical and audience reception to it was tremendous, but at the end of the day not nearly enough people watched it.”

He added, “I would’ve loved to deliver on the Future War I had planned in season’s 2 and 3, but I’m also very happy with how it feels contained as is.”

The Vince Staples Show (Netflix)

Netflix has also canceled *The Vince Staples Show*, according to *The Hollywood Reporter*. Netflix did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

Created by Vince Staples, Ian Edelman, and Maurice Williams, the offbeat comedy was originally billed as a “limited series of satirical tales” and starred the rapper as a fictionalized version of himself.

When it debuted in February 2024, critics praised its humor and unique tone. EW called it “laugh-out-loud funny,” noting an edge that made it feel “both unexpected and authentic.”

Sadly, it never broke through to a massive audience, but it definitely found its fans. Honestly, we’re lucky it got a second season at all.

Watson (CBS)

The CBS medical drama *Watson* will wrap up after two seasons, with its series finale set to air on May 3.

Morris Chesnut, who starred as the titular doctor/detective, confirmed the news on Instagram on March 30, calling the cancellation “disappointing.”

“I’m so grateful for the experience,” he added in the caption. “It wouldn’t have been the same without the amazing cast and crew … To all the fans who showed love and supported *Watson*, thank you so much.”

Wonder Man (Disney+)

The Marvel and Disney+ series *Wonder Man* was canceled after it had already been renewed for a second season. Star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II even received an Emmy nomination for his performance, making the cancellation that much more surprising.

The series starred Abdul-Mateen as Hollywood actor and comic book character Simon Williams and debuted to positive reception from both critics and audiences. Following the cancellation, the star said he was told the decision “had something to do with the viewership numbers.”
