Giada De Laurentiis has already suffered the first injury of Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars - but it shouldn't keep her out of the competition.
The chef is one of 16 celebrities taking to the dancing competition series' ballroom for season 35, and was confirmed by ABC on an episode of Good Morning America on September 2. She is competing with Season 28 champion Alan Bersten.
And while rumors of drama and "eye-rolling" are already allegedly making things tense behind the scenes for other reasons, it appears that De Laurentiis, 56, is dealing with some other issues.

As it turns out, she has already suffered an injury during rehearsals with Bersten.
She confirmed the news in an Instagram video on September 7.

Sitting on a couch, De Laurentiis shared, "So I had a great day at rehearsals today. But sadly, I busted my toe. Take a look."
She then pivots the camera to show off the bruised middle toe on her foot.
"As you can see, it's quite purple and it wraps all the way around. I'm, for sure, going to lose my toe nail, I think. I don't know. It hurts, but we'll figure it out tomorrow. Part of the game. Part of the game!" she said.

While it is the first confirmed injury of the season, luckily for her, it shouldn't be one that keeps her out of the competition - something that has happened to other celebrities in the past, forcing them to withdraw ahead of the first episode.
Christie Brinkley withdrew from the show's 28th season ahead of the premiere after suffering a broken wrist and arm in rehearsals, and was replaced by her daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook.
Nancy O'Dell and Jewel were also both forced to drop out of season 8 after suffering injuries during their rehearsals as well. They were both replaced by Holly Madison and Melissa Rycroft.
Injuries have also plagued stars mid-season as well, with some requiring withdrawals, and others seeing celebrities miss an episode, but return later on and have their week's routine judged on taped rehearsal footage.

This happened with Bersten during Season 34, as his partner, Elaine Hendrix, was hospitalized for a painful rib injury, forcing her to miss her performance during the show's Halloween night episode.
Despite that, she was able to continue performing in later episodes, and went on to make the show's finale and place fifth overall in the competition.
Dylan Efron, the season's fourth place finisher, also broke his nose during later episodes, but was able to continue performing without interruption.
Dancing With the Stars Season 35 will premiere with a two-night event on Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16 on ABC and Disney+.
