“I Wanted to Be a Victoria’s Secret Angel”: Azzi Fudd Reveals Unknown Ambition on Ilona Maher’s Podcast

The Dallas Wings picked UConn sensation Azzi Fudd as the first overall pick in this year’s draft. After a successful college career, she proved her quality in the WNBA. However, just when she was settling in and getting her rhythm, she suffered a season-ending injury.

Fudd has resumed some workouts and recently appeared on American rugby star and Olympic medalist Ilona Maher’s workout-based podcast.

During the episode, they talked about childhood ambitions and when they decided to pursue a career in sports. Fudd made an interesting revelation about a dream growing up.

“If I’m going to be honest, my dreams when I was younger, couldn’t tell you why, but I wanted to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel,” Fudd shared (4:43).

She also said that she did not really think of playing basketball professionally for a long time but just kept playing and then realized that she could make a career out of it.

Fudd has always prioritized her privacy even after becoming one of the most talked-about stars in women’s basketball. During the conversation with Maher, she shared how she has learned to deal with that kind of attention.

“It’s been interesting,” she laughed as she said (6:34). “I mean, obviously that’s like all I know, but finding that balance of what to share, what to keep to yourself, uh, is definitely like something you have to learn.”

Fudd also said that over the years she has learned about fashion, and her experience at the New York Fashion Week has been unreal. She shared that she cannot really get into the tunnel-fit tradition of the WNBA. Fudd added that she is more focused on getting ready for the game and not interested in throwing fits.
