King Charles’letter reportedly offers a subtle glimpse into the Palace’s strategy regarding the Sussexes. For those unfamiliar with the situation, reports claim that the Lord Chamberlain sent a letter to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on behalf of Charles.

It formally confirms that they will remain private citizens and will no longer be permitted to use their royal titles or undertake royal engagements. A royal expert has now drawn attention to one seemingly simple line in the letter, suggesting that it could carry far greater significance than it initially appears.

King Charles’ letter reportedly features an important clue about the royal palace’s strategy in dealing with the Sussexes. Royal expert Jennie Bond pointed out: “Interestingly, it says any questions about that should now be directed to Buckingham Palace” (via The iPaper).

Bond explained that this little detail is interesting because previously the palace refused to answer questions about Harry and Meghan. However, now they are willing to address any grievances and miscommunications about the Sussexes. “It seems obvious that Buckingham Palace is now showing its might and supremacy,” Bond added.

The royal expert has claimed that the palace is trying to take charge of the narrative. Bond believes the palace’s motive is to clear any confusion surrounding Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK and pull back the “media and public focus” to the royal family.

Additionally, the King declaring the Sussexes as private citizens seemingly sends out a message that Harry needs to arrange for his own security. While the odds seem stacked against the Sussexes, Bond explained that it doesn’t take away from the fact that Harry is a royal as well.

The expert has predicted that the Sussexes would be “in demand from numerous charities and campaigns and yet remain free to earn a commercial income if they so choose.”

As per PEOPLE, Harry and Meghan flew privately from California to Birmingham on August 26. The couple plans to stay in the UK for an extended period of time along with their children, Archie and Lilibet. The Sussexes will reside in a private, non-royal home while retaining their Montecito and Portugal homes.

King Charles was reportedly “made aware” of the Sussexes’ plans on August 16 and has welcomed the idea of spending time with his grandchildren in a private capacity.
