Mariska Hargitay is sharing why she was “blown away” by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding.
During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, Sept. 9, Hargitay, 62, shared her favorite moment from the “Love Story” singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s star-studded wedding.
“I’m still floating from that wedding,” the Law & Order: SVU star shared. “It was so spectacular and so intimate, I have to say. I have to say, I am blown away, because when there’s a wedding with that many guests, you think, like, ‘Oh, okay, it’s gonna be that.’ And it just wasn’t.”

The actress attended the celebration at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3, with her husband, Peter Hermann, 59. The two were among an estimated 1,000 guests, including hundreds of A-list celebrity friends and industry tastemakers.
Despite the large size and stardom of the wedding, Hargitay said it still felt intimate and emotional. “I even say that the vows were my favorite part of the whole wedding,” she shared. “It was that magical.”
An insider told PEOPLE at the time of the wedding that Swift and Kelce, both 36, spent about 20 minutes each reading their handwritten vows and even handed out embroidered handkerchiefs during the ceremony to wipe away any stray tears. The custom tissues were stitched with a “TT” interlocking heart logo and a line from Swift’s 2014 hit “Blank Space,” a favorite of Kelce’s: “So it’s gonna be forever…”
In Swift’s vows — which attendee George Stephanopoulos has described as “real, vulnerable, serious and silly” — the pop star praised Kelce for spending his high school lunch periods sitting with bullied kids and told their friends and family she “wished she knew someone like that when she was in high school,” a friend of the couple told PEOPLE.
“Travis was very emotional during the vows,” a second source added.

Hargitay attended the wedding just weeks after she sat courtside with Swift, along with HAIM bandmates and sisters Este and Alana Haim, for Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, June 10.
While watching the New York Knicks face off against the San Antonio Spurs, the group rocked blue custom Knicks T-shirts with orange font featuring pop culture puns, such as “Knickole Kidman” in honor of Nicole Kidman.
“She was throwing me around like a rag doll!” Hargitay said of Swift on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

The host of the upcoming 78th Primetime Emmy Awards recalled, “It was pretty spectacular. I came. I had run from my theater — I was doing a play at the time — and I actually ran from my theater, physically ran from the theater to the game. And we were sitting together, and I was wearing a black T-shirt, and Taylor, being the prepared woman that she is, was like, ‘I got you.’ And basically handed [the shirt] to me. I put it on and that was the end of it. She’s good like that.”
Hargitay and Swift are longtime friends. The SVU star is the namesake of Swift’s cat, a Scottish fold named Olivia Benson after her beloved character. Swift adopted the feline in 2014, and almost a decade later, Hargitay adopted her own cat in 2023, and named it Karma after the singer’s song of the same name from her album Midnights. Hargitay also appeared in Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video released in 2015.
