Next Marvel Saga’s Thanos & Doctor Doom-Level Villain Revealed by Report

Marvel Studios has reportedly found the overarching threat for its next era of movies. According to a new scoop, the Mutant Saga will build toward a classic X-Men villain as its version of Thanos or Doctor Doom, and he may already be pulling strings behind the scenes.

Marvel’s Wolverine and the MCU’s X-Men Have the same big bads

Insider @MyTimeToShineHello posted on X that Insomniac Games and Marvel Studios are pursuing strikingly similar villain plans.

The scooper wrote, “It’s funny how similar what Insomniac and the MCU are doing is. In Insomniac’s upcoming WOLVERINE game Mister Sinister is the villain, and he’s working for Apocalypse who only appears as a voice and is teased as the villain of the upcoming X-Men game.”

They further added, “In the MCU’s X-Men reboot, Mister Sinister is also working for Apocalypse and will reportedly have a cameo, setting him up as the big bad of the next Saga.” In other words, Adam Driver’s Mister Sinister is at the center of the X-Men reboot while a bigger threat waits offscreen. Of course, Marvel has not confirmed any of this, and early plans frequently change.

For the uninitiated, Apocalypse, also known as En Sabah Nur, first appeared in X-Factor #6 in 1986. Writer Louise Simonson and artist Jackson Guice created him. The ancient mutant operates on a “survival of the fittest” doctrine and pushes mutant evolution forward through destructive, often genocidal methods.

Beyond that, he casts himself as a god-like figure and gathers followers called the “Four Horsemen.” Oscar Isaac previously played him in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Ultimately, his power level gives the Avengers a reason to intervene, which mirrors how Thanos and Doctor Doom function as franchise-wide threats.

Meanwhile, Jake Schreier directs the untitled X-Men movie. The cast includes Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Samara Weaving plays Emma Frost, while Adam Driver takes on Nathaniel Milbury/Mister Sinister.
