A royal reporter claimed that fears surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have caused the Diana Award event to be abruptly canceled. Charlotte Griffiths, the editor-at-large at the Daily Mail, reported that the black-tie gala dinner for the charity was scheduled to take place at Raffles London on September 18. However, the event was suddenly canceled.

It was expected to be a major event, with renowned singer Zak Abel booked to perform. Griffiths said she was looking forward to attending. However, “strangely” and “mysteriously,” all attendees received an email informing them that the entire event had been canceled.

The reporter added, “Now my sources are saying that there has been a lot of wrangling been going on behind the scenes and a lot of paranoia, a lot of fears that the fact that it (the event) had been reported might make it difficult or uncomfortable for Meghan and Harry to attend.”

According to Griffiths, Harry and Meghan wanted their involvement in the event to remain “top secret.” However, once reports emerged that they might attend, the situation may have become complicated. This has led to questions about whether the publicity surrounding their potential attendance played a role in the gala’s cancellation.

She said, “The Diana Award is the last remaining charity that both Harry and William are still patrons of.” She also explained that the brothers take turns hosting events. This time, it was technically the Duke’s turn to host or be involved in an event. According to the reporter, Harry wanted Meghan to attend, although she was not going to be involved in the event. She added, “And then, in the end, the whole event was cancelled yesterday – which is quite a major thing to do.”
