The funeral for the late King Harald V of Norway took place at Oslo Cathedral on Sept. 9.
The event was attended by dignitaries and royals from around the world, among them Britain’s Prince William and Princess Anne, Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan and more.
King Harald died on Aug. 28, following several years of health issues. He was hospitalized for the second time this year on Aug. 17, with the Royal House announcing at the time that it was due to side effects from other ongoing medical treatments. His condition deteriorated in the following weeks and the palace announced he was receiving antibiotics for a “bloodstream bacterial infection.” His wife, Queen Sonja, and son, now-King Haakon, canceled their pending engagements to be by his bedside in his final hours.
The late monarch reigned for 35 years, after ascending the throne in 1991 following his own father’s death.
