*CBS Evening News* anchor Tony Dokoupil paused a televised spot in Taiwan on Wednesday after a crew member had a scary "medical emergency" live on the air.

The news personality halted a live shot in Asia during the closing moments of Wednesday's broadcast after a thudding sound and resulting commotion behind the scenes could be heard in the background during his report.

"Is he okay?" Dokoupil asked, before telling his audience that "we're going to take a quick break, we have a medical emergency here. We're calling a doctor."

After a few moments of silence, another member of the crew could be heard asking, "Can you call a doctor, please?"

The show then cut to a shot of Matt Gutman, the former ABC personality who recently made the jump to CBS, in a studio as he picked up coverage.

"So, I'm going to sign off for Tony Dokoupil, who's been reporting in Taiwan," Gutman said at the desk. "We're going to go to break. We'll be right back."

"So, here's my promise to you, today and every time you see me in this chair: you come first," Dokoupil stressed in his New Year's Day address. "Not advertisers. Not politicians. Not corporate interests. And, yes, that does include the corporate owners of CBS. I report for you."
