Wai Ching Ho has died at age 82, her former Daredevil costar Peter Shinkoda announced on Saturday, July 11
The actress played Marvel villain Madame Gao in Daredevil, Iron Fist and The Defenders
She reportedly suffered a stroke days before her death
Wai Ching Ho, best known for playing Madame Gao in Daredevil and other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, has died. She was 82.
The news of her death was announced by her former Daredevil costar Peter Shinkoda on Instagram on Saturday, July 11.
āJust lost someone very special to me. She was one of the coolest. Thinking aloud. #Gao šš,ā he captioned his post, using a hashtag referring to her villainous Marvel character, who also appeared in Iron Fist and The Defenders.
He later shared a few photos of the Hong Kong actress with the caption, āI wonāt ever forget you. I learned every minute from you when we were together on and off set. I know wisdom - Iād hang on your every word. We will meet again, my friend. You were beautiful.ā

Actor Perry Yung shared in a tribute on Sunday, July 12, saying that Ho āpassed away peacefully after a stroke two days ago.ā
āI had seen her perform many times on stage, had many a dim sum and she came to see @slantperformancegroup many times. I even had the enormous good fortune of having played her husband (parents to @justinchon) in the film High Resolution,ā he wrote.
āWai Ching was a kind, compassionate human being whose work as an artist lifted every production to a higher standard, and we are better for it. Rest in power dear friend,ā Yung continued.

In another tribute, actress Mahira Kakkar remembered Ho as āwarm, funny, caring, joyful, positive and a truly wonderful actor.ā
āFor those of us who did not have a lot of role models and mentors in the industry Wai was a pillar. I am deeply grateful I got to know her and I am very sad she is gone. She also utterly refused to speak ill of anyone. My dear Wai you deserve all the standing ovations- what a stellar human and a stellar artist. What an example of how to live,ā she wrote on Instagram.

Wai Ching Ho was a veteran actress with roles in Premium Rush, Hustlers, Turning Red, Fresh Off the Boatand Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. She also was in Pixarās 2022 animated film Turning Red as Grandma Wuās voice.
Ho also appeared in two episodes of One Life to Live.
She has starred in several stage works, including Celine Songās off-Broadway play Endlings.
