Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar have at least 40 grandkids

The Duggar family is growing.
Since Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar became the stars of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting — which ran for 10 seasons from 2008 to 2015 — many of their children have had kids of their own. In fact, the Arkansas-based couple now has more than 40 grandkids.
The pair first became grandparents in October 2009. Of Jim Bob and Michelle’s 19 children, 11 of them have started families of their own, and some have more kids on the way.
“It is the most wonderful thing. I’ve heard people say it’s great. Now I know what they were talking about,” Michelle told Today in 2012 of becoming a grandparent. “Having these grandchildren is such a joy. They are precious, and it is such a sweet relationship.”

The Duggars have at least 40 grandkids.
In February, Jinger Duggar Vuolo addressed rumors that the family has more grandchildren who have not been publicly announced. In a Q&A on her Instagram Stories, she received the question, “Are there any mystery Duggar grandkids?”
She responded, “Maybe there are some that I don’t know about in a family as large as mine?! Haha jk.”
She was later asked if she remembers the birthdays of everyone in her family. Jinger replied that she knows the dates of her siblings and parents, but not the birthdays of the grandkids.
“It’s one of those things where I kinda feel bad about it, but also at the same time we’re at like 40 grandkids from my parents, so that’s like a lot to remember,” she said in a video response.
Five Duggar sisters are mothers

Jim Bob and Michelle had nine daughters. Thus far, five of them have had children.
Jill Duggar Dillard was their first daughter to give birth in April 2015, when she welcomed son Israel David Dillard with her husband Derick Dillard. The couple then welcomed two more sons: Samuel Scott Dillard, born in July 2017, and Frederick “Freddy” Michael Dillard, born in July 2022.
Jessa Duggar Seewald became the second Duggar daughter to transition into motherhood. Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald, welcomed their first son, Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, in November 2015. They then welcomed son Henry Wilberforce Seewald in February 2017, followed by daughters Ivy Jane Seewald, born in May 2019, and Fern Elliana Seewald, born in July 2021. Their son George Augustine Seewald arrived in December 2023 and son Edward Owen Seewald was born in July 2025.
Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth joined the parenthood club next when she welcomed son Gideon Martyn Forsyth in February 2018 with her husband Austin Forsyth. In July 2019, the couple suffered the loss of their daughter, Annabell Elise Forsyth, who was stillborn at 20 weeks.
They later welcomed two more children: Evelyn “Evy” Mae Forsyth in August 2020 and Gunner James Forsyth in May 2023.
Jinger is mom to three kids with her husband Jeremy Vuolo. They have two daughters and a son: Felicity Nicole Vuolo, born in July 2018, Evangeline Jo Vuolo, born in November 2020, and Finnegan Charles Vuolo, born in March 2025.
Most recently, in December 2025, Jana Duggar Wissmann welcomed her first child, Archie Gerald Wissmann, with husband Stephen Wissmann.
There are multiple sets of twins in the extended family

Jim Bob and Michelle had two sets of twins: fraternal twins John-David Duggar and Jana Duggar, who were born on Jan. 12, 1990, and identical twins Jedidiah Duggar and Jeremiah Duggar, who arrived on Dec. 30, 1998.
They also have grandchildren who are twins. In January 2025, Jedidiah welcomed twin daughters, Elsie Kate and Emma Kate, with his wife Katey Duggar.

Six Duggar brothers are fathers

Within the Duggar family, there are 10 sons. Six of them have had children.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s oldest child Josh Duggar has seven children, whom he had with wife Ann Keller Duggar: Mackynzie Renée Duggar, Michael James Duggar, Marcus Anthony Duggar, Meredith Grace Duggar, Mason Garrett Duggar, Maryella Hope Duggar and Madyson Lily Duggar.
In 2015, a resurfaced police report revealed that Josh had been investigated for child molestation of five girls when he was a teen. (These allegations led to the cancellation of the family’s TLC show.) Jill and Jessa later came forward as two of their brother’s victims. Josh responded to the allegations, telling PEOPLE in a statement that he “acted inexcusably.”
In 2021, Josh was arrested on one charge of receipt of child pornography and one charge of possession of child pornography. He was found guilty and sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison in May 2022. He’ll be released in February 2033, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The Duggar family’s controversies have also surrounded Joseph, who is a dad of four children with wife Kendra Duggar.
In March 2026, Joseph was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older. He was accused of molesting a girl who was 9 years old at the time in Panama City Beach, Fla., while she was on vacation with her family.
One day later, Joseph and Kendra were each charged with four counts each of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment. After searching the Duggars’ home, Arkansas officials filed the charges.
“I can tell you the arrest was a result of a home inspection, and the door locks being on the exterior of the doors,” a source close to the family previously told PEOPLE.
They each now have the chance to get those charges dismissed once they complete a 12-month probationary period. Joseph’s next hearing is set for November 2026.
John-David is among the other Duggar brothers who have kids of their own. He and wife Abbie welcomed their first kid, daughter Grace Duggar, in January 2020, followed by son Charlie Duggar in September 2022. In January 2026, they welcomed another daughter.
Meanwhile, Josiah welcomed his first child, daughter Bella Milagro Duggar, with his wife, Lauren, in November 2019. They reportedly share several other children, but haven’t publicly confirmed their names or sexes.
Before Jedidiah and Katey welcomed their twin daughters in 2025, they first became parents with the birth of their son Truett Duggar in May 2022. Then in May 2023, they welcomed daughter Nora Duggar.
Jedidiah’s twin Jeremiah is also a dad. He shares three children with his wife, Hannah: daughter Brynley Noelle Duggar, born in December 2022, daughter Brielle Grace Duggar, born in February 2024, and daughter, Emery “Emy” Jane Duggar, born in May 2025.
There are more grandchildren on the way

More Duggar grandchildren are on the way.
Jessa is currently expecting her seventh baby. She announced the news in October 2026 while she was on the Unplanned Podcast with Matt and Abby Howard.
“I get baby fever way too soon,” Jessa said of her decision to have another child. “I’m like, ‘How can I have a newborn and have baby fever?’ When I said we should have a No. 7, [Ben] was like, ‘Alright.’ ”
“She’s the one carrying this child,” Ben added. “If she wants to have another one, if she wants to be a mom again, who am I to stand in the way of that?”
Joy-Anna also has a baby due to arrive in 2027. “So much joy, so much excitement, and so much love for this little one already,” she wrote on Instagram in September 2026. “God knew we needed you 🤍.”
